5 things to see & do at 2020 Toronto ComiCon
With over 400 exhibitors spread across 150,000 square feet, the 2018 Toronto ComiCon is a superhero-sized celebration of entertainment and comic book culture. But navigating this labyrinth of colour, creatures and characters can be a sensory overload even for veteran attendees.
To help get you started on your quest, here are 5 things to see at 2018 Toronto ComiCon:
1. Celebrity Encounters and Photo Sessions
This year’s star-studded cast of celebrities includes Seth Gilliam, aka Father Gabriel Stokes of Walking Dead fame; Kristian Naim aka Hodor from Game of Thrones; and Arrow’s Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett). Be sure to check out the celebrity photo booth to make a memory with your favourite celeb with an 8×10 glossy photo.
2. Celebrate Cosplay
With a different cosplay on each day, the photo ops are going to be epic. The community has never been stronger in Toronto and the Cosplayer line-up for 2018 includes Holly Wolf, Glamzilla and That Joker Guy. And there’s no need to find the Bat Cave to get some time with Batman as Lee Howard is part of the lineup. To the bat pole Robin!
3. Explore the steampunk revolution
Do you love high-tech Victorian fashion? Ever heard of an airship pirate? This year the steampunk revolution invades Toronto ComiCon, featuring the costumes, writing and illustrations that make up a fascinating subculture sci-fi world where the industrial revolution lives on in the present. Check out a special costuming panel featuring experts from the Toronto Steampunk Society or get your own Victorian-inspired gear from one of the many Steampunk artisans at this year’s event.
4. Show off your creations
The Cosplay Craftsmanship Contest is when cosplayers can show off their crafting skills without having to appear on stage. Focusing solely on workmanship, contestants sign up for scheduled appointments where they will have ten minutes with the judges to show off all of their hard work.
5. Solve a Comicon Mystery
Craig Pileggi, know for his role as Walter Skinner of X-Files, is coming to ComiCon 2018 to solve a long-standing mystery. Since it’s a mystery we can’t tell you what it’s about, you just have to go to find out!
