Countdown to Ontario Summer Games August 16 marked the "one year to go" point for the 2012 Ontario Summer Games in Toronto. The official launch party took place at City Hall and included an unveiling of the official games logo. The Ontario Summer Games is Ontario's largest multi-sport event and will bring together approximately 2,500 athletes competing in 28 sports and involve more than 1,000 volunteers. Latin America media outreach
As a result of a recent Chilean press tour, La Tercera published an article on the neighbourhoods of Toronto on July 30. La Tercera is a major daily newspaper in Santiago, Chile with a circulation of 330,000.
Apertura magazine, a business weekly based in Argentina, produced a special edition entitled Apertura Life in August dedicated to all things luxury lifestyle and in it is a story on Toronto as a result of a recent press tour.
Toronto was all over the Sunday travel section of El Nuevo Dia, Puerto Rico's leading daily newspaper, after TT's press tour of photojournalists in May.
Mucho gusto Toronto!
TT's International Leisure Trade Sales team, in conjunction with Ontario Tourism and the Canadian Tourism Commission, recently hosted product managers from five tour operators in Mexico. While in Toronto these clients conducted site inspections and experienced member attractions and products of interest to the upscale Mexican consumer. The product managers were awestruck by the cosmopolitan flare of the city and were inspired to develop/redevelop Toronto programs centered around the vast shopping opportunities available year round. This fam was part of TT's ongoing efforts to position Toronto as an exciting urban destination to Mexican travellers.

AFAR magazine reaches upper income households throughout the U.S., and following a press trip hosted by TT in April, Toronto was featured for its molecular mixology, multi-ethnic food and museums.
Quebec students to learn about Toronto
As part of our ongoing marketing strategy with the Quebec student tour operators, TT’s International Leisure Trade team organized a sales mission to Quebec City and Montreal from Aug 9-12 to meet with 20 top-producing tour companies bringing student and other organized groups to Toronto. Eleven members participated in this week-long mission to continue to position Toronto as the key student destination from Quebec.
TIFF draws travel media focus
Four pages on Toronto grace this month's Points North Magazine. TT's Film, Fashion & Entertainment-themed press trip last year resulted in a feature not only on the film fest and the TIFF Bell Lightbox but many other charms of the city as well. Points North is aimed at an affluent Atlanta readership and covers dining, entertainment and travel.
