Contemporary
- Yorkdale Shopping Centre
Queen St. West is the main shopping street in the city. From the
Eaton Centre –which showcases over 200 retailers– and the Hudson’s Bay Company, the street extends to a cluster of boutiques, mass retailers and niche products from comic books to toys.
In the North-end of the city,
Yorkdale Shopping Centre is a shopper’s paradise with over 240 stores including three department stores(
Holt Renfrew, The Bay, Sears), boutique brands (Aritzia, Top Shop) and mass market retailers (H&M, Zara, Crate & Barrel). Exciting developments continue here with its recent expansions.
High-End
Bloor-Yorkville, one of the most prestigious neighbourhoods in the city, offers haute boutiques, bridal shops, salons and jewelry stores.
Hazelton Lanes and Holt Renfrew are one-stop shopping centres with a mix of international and Canadian designers. Bloor Street between Yonge and Avenue Road is known as “Mink Mile” because of its luxury fashion stores such as Prada, Chanel, Hermes and Tiffany & Co. It is also home to mass retailers like Club Monaco and Banana Republic. Designer duds aren’t exclusive to Yorkville and Bloor, however.
Got Style, at Wellington and Bathurst, sells some of the best names in men’s fashion and even has a barbershop.
Vintage
Shop in Kensington Market
The biggest concentrations of vintage shops are in
Kensington Market and Parkdale. Both great neighbourhoods to wander and discover your next new find. You’ll find fashion editors at Courage My Love or Flashback for signature jewelry or a leather jacket. Retailers like the Future of Frances Watson, Stella Luna and Black Market are favourites of the fashion community. Queen Street West has a few stores that will surprise you like Cabaret Vintage, with its gorgeous collection of vintage wedding dresses and 69 Vintage, a mish mash of fabulous garments and shoes. Ossington has a great mix of higher-end vintage at stores like I Miss You Vintage. On the east side in
Leslieville, there are unique novelty shops like Thrill of The Find and Gadabout.
Furniture
Toronto’s style also comes through in its furniture design, showcased in Leslieville, King Street East and The Junction. Whether it’s a big piece or smaller decor items, the cluster of stores in these areas will ignite inspiration. Teatro Verde, in Yorkville, is also one of the most unique design stores in the city.
