Getting to Know Toronto’s Heritage in Ten Stops

Heritage Toronto brings Toronto’s heritage to life this summer with a simple and delightful walking tour called “Creating Toronto: The Story of the City in Ten Stops.”

Passing by some of the city’s most celebrated sites, this tour gives a “big picture” overview of Toronto’s history. It visits a number of Toronto landmarks and shares inspiring stories of the people who built the city. The tour also introduces citizens and tourists to key moments of innovation and creativity that have shaped Toronto, from the people who, over 10,000 years ago, left footprints in the clay under Toronto Bay, to the rise of the city’s Financial District, to the story of stunning homegrown scientific breakthroughs that shaped our modern world.

The “Creating Toronto: The Story of the City in Ten Stops” tours run every Thursday at 6:30pm from July 10 to August 28.

Cost is $20 per person and proceeds go directly toward the charitable agency of the City’s programming, which focuses on helping people appreciate Toronto’s rich natural, cultural, archaeological and architectural heritage.

Pre-registration and pre-payment at www.heritagetoronto.org/creatingtoronto is required to secure a guaranteed spot.

The 2014 Heritage Toronto Tours season, which is in its 20th year, officially ends on October 26. Click here heritagetoronto.org/tours/ for a digital version of this season’s Heritage Toronto Tours brochure which lists all tour dates, times and descriptions.

Heritage Toronto thanks Tours Sponsor TD Bank Group for making this program possible.

Heritage Toronto is a charitable arms-length agency of the City of Toronto established in 1949 to promote a greater appreciation for the city’s rich architectural, cultural, archaeological and natural heritage. Through partnerships with local community groups and volunteers, Heritage Toronto provides city-wide programs and services.
