The Second City is thrilled to present our Spring 2014 Mainstage Revue, Sixteen Scandals — a daring new collection of satirical sketches, songs and improvisations from Toronto’s premier comedy troupe.

Our fully-licensed theatre offers a full bar and food menu, with table service available throughout the performance.

Created & Performed by: Ashley Botting, Craig Brown, Sarah Hillier, Allison Price, Connor Thompson & Kevin Vidal.

Directed by: Chris Earle • Assistant to Director: Dale Boyer

The Mountaintop

July 16 – September 7.

A storm rages outside as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr settles into Room 306 at the Lorraine Motel. He is exhausted, having just delivered his powerful “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech about his hopes for the days ahead and the view he has seen of the Promised Land. When room service arrives, he meets a beautiful and slightly mysterious young hotel maid. Through their intimate and ultimately transformative conversation, we hear the hopes and fears of King – both the leader and the man – as he is forced to confront his destiny and his legacy. Critics called it “wondrous, hilarious, and heartbreaking.”

Three seasons ago we presented Suzan-Lori Parks Topdog/Underdog, in collaboration with Toronto’s highly respected Obsidian Theatre. Directed by their Artistic Director Philip Akin, the play moved into Toronto for a winter run where it gained more critical kudos and several awards. I am thrilled to reconnect and start another journey with Obsidian with Katori Hall’s beautiful and important play. – JM.

The Mountaintop is recommended for ages 14+
