B.B. King

A B.B. King show is a grand event. The intimate, casual and light-hearted nature of his shows belies the tremendous discipline, dedication and history behind them. It’s easy to see why, 66 years into his career, the guitarist and singer is worshipped by musicians the world over, regardless of genre. Don’t miss this living legend—and his famous guitar, Lucille—when he returns to Massey Hall.

Theresa Caputo

Theresa Caputo is a typical Long Island wife and mom, except for one distinct difference…she communicates with the dead. It’s a gift she cannot “turn off” prompting her to give spontaneous readings to her car mechanic or cashier at the local bagel shop. Theresa will share her story and much more in the intimate surroundings of the Sony Centre For The Performing Arts.

The hit TLC show Long Island Medium premiered in September 2011 to rave reviews and a loyal following. Come March, TLC will launch a new season of Long Island Medium in prime time. The show follows Theresa’s life as a psychic medium and the unique challenges it creates for her husband of 22 years, Larry, and two children, aged 17 and 21.

Theresa has been a practicing medium for 10 years and is a certified medium with the Forever-Family Foundation, an organization dedicated to connecting science with the afterlife. She spends her days helping individuals find closure by connecting them with their departed loved ones. For Theresa, this is not just her job… this is her life.

Peace in Our Time: A Comedy

Take Geneva, one of Shaw’s fascinating but thornier late plays, lend it a freewheeling, extravagant adaptation by one of Canada’s most well-respected playwrights, and presto! The result is a sharp, contemporary, political comedy where affairs of state meet the Three Stooges. The play opens in a dysfunctional diplomatic office prior to the Second World War and ends in The Hague at a trial of the world’s dictators. Between, you are taken on a totally manic ride.

Trifles (Lunchtime One-Acts)

Two gripping marital mysteries by two playwrights who helped bring modern drama to America. In Trifles, a man is found dead but his wife can’t explain the rope around his neck. An obvious whodunnit? Not according to the wives of the investigators. In A Wife for a Life (O’Neill’s first play), a husband seeks revenge for his wife’s infidelity. He meets a young man in love and is forced to reconsider the very marriage he seeks to defend. Two little-seen plays in one gem of an outing.

James Ehnes Returns

Oct. 10 and Oct. 12. Launching the era of nineteenth-century Romanticism with unprecedented strength and breadth, Beethoven’s “Heroic” Symphony set a gold standard for symphonic composition. Countless composers have tried to equal it—and never have. Created at the outbreak of World War II, English composer Benjamin Britten’s Violin Concerto reflects the turbulent spirit of the time.

Come for: The Times of London praised violinist James Ehnes for “playing of phenomenal control, allied to musicianship of the highest order.” He performs English composer Benjamin Britten’s Violin Concerto—created at the outbreak of World War II, it reflects the turbulent spirit of the time.

And more: Audience-favourite Stéphane Denève returns to lead Beethoven’s ground-breaking “Eroica” symphony.

While sightseeing, Clara has a chance encounter with Fabrizio, a handsome Florentine, and they fall in love. Margaret tries to keep them apart to protect her daughter, who isn’t what she seems. But the romance of Italy is powerful, and it slowly transforms them all. From the writer of the musical Floyd Collins, which the Shaw Festival produced to huge acclaim in 2004.
