3rd annual Roundhouse Craft Beer Festival

Steam Whistle Brewing for the third year hosts the Roundhouse Craft Beer Festival in their own backyard for what Toronto Life Magazine named as one of the top 5 beer festivals to attend in Toronto. The independent craft brewer will transform Roundhouse Park into a great outdoor festival where long-time beer fans and those newly discovering the craft beer movement can sample & savour offerings from local producers. From 12noon to 7pm the weekend of August 9th-10th, attendees will be able to pair flavourful ales, crisp lagers, seasonal and experimental beers with fare from gourmet food trucks, all within a park setting while local indie bands entertain.

“We’ve been overwhelmed with such positive feedback about the Roundhouse Craft Beer Festival that we’ve made it bigger and better to showcase even more local craft beer talent without losing the original vibe of the festival,” explains Tim McLaughlin, Steam Whistle Brand Manager and festival organizer. “Our goal is to create a relaxed atmosphere for beer exploration and education. It’s just such a great event combining good people, good eats and great beer.”

The festival, which continues to grow in popularity, expands this year both in space and in attractions. This year patrons can expect more beer varieties with 20 different craft brewers, showcasing the re-emergence of craft beer and a greater diversity of crowd pleasing food trucks. New editions to the craft beer roaster include Railway City Brewing, Highlander Brew Co. and Side Launch Brewing to name a few. The festival setup provides plenty of room to linger and learn from Ontario Craft Brewers.

The festival showcases beers from the association of Ontario Craft Brewers, who have a passion to re-kindle and keep alive the spirit of traditional brewing. Independent ownership, smaller batches, artisanal styles, quality ingredients, all-natural and undiluted beers are hallmarks of their Brewing Philosophy & Standards. www.ontariocraftbrewers.com

The Roundhouse Craft Beer Festival will benefit the Toronto Rail Heritage Museum in the adjacent Roundhouse Park, just outside the doors of host, Steam Whistle Brewing – 255 Bremner Blvd. Toronto. Phone (416) 362-2337 ext 246.

Sampling glasses can be purchased in advance for $20 at www.craftbeerfest.ca or for $25 at the door. Beer will only be served in the official glasses with beer sampling tickets costing $1 (glasses can be re-used on the 2nd day of the festival). Food can be purchased with cash. This is an Age of Majority event.

15th AnnualScotiabank BuskerFest

15th AnnualScotiabank BuskerFest in support of Epilepsy Toronto.

Announces New and Returning Acts from around the Globe!

AUGUST 21-24, 2014 throughout the Downtown Yonge Neighbourhood.

Epilepsy Toronto is pleased to present their signature fundraising event, Scotiabank BuskerFest. In partnership with the Downtown Yonge BIA, they are proud to announce an outstanding roster of international and Canadian acts, both new and returning, for the 15th edition of Toronto’s international street performers festival. Scotiabank BuskerFest runs Thursday, August 21 to Sunday, August 24 throughout the Downtown Yonge Neighbourhood, from Queen to College Streets and surrounding areas (including Trinity Square Park and Yonge-Dundas Square).

An estimated one-and-a-half million spectators attended the festival last year – an astounding success for its first year along the downtown Yonge Street corridor. Organizers are anticipating at least as many this year, as more buskers than ever before – over 120 of the best street performers in over 50 acts from across the country and around the globe – bring their world-class talents to Canada’s most populous city.

Buskers retain proceeds from “the hat” passed after their performances except for shows on the Scotiabank Stage in Yonge-Dundas Square: for the first time ever, each performing act will be doing one performance on this stage over the course of the weekend, and all proceeds will go to Epilepsy Toronto!
