Canada Blooms 2014

From March 14-23, 2014 Canada Blooms returns to the Direct Energy Centre celebrating their 18th Anniversary as Canada’s largest flower and garden festival. Canada Blooms will be entering its third year of co-location in 2014 with The National Home Show to create the largest Home and Garden Event in North America. Now in its eighteenth year, Canada Blooms was founded by Landscape Ontario and The Garden Club of Toronto. Canada Blooms has been named One of Ontario’s Top 100 Events by Festivals and Events Ontario and One of North America’s Top 100 Events by the American Bus Association.

Experience a paradise bursting with six acres of glorious gardens in full bloom, Canada’s largest flower show, meet Canada’s gardening and horticultural experts and shop ‘til you drop in the Blooms Marketplace.

Toronto Zoo March Break Camp

Monday, March 10 to Friday, March 14.

9:00am – 3:30pm.

AGES: 4 to 10.

COST (per person)*: $260 Zoo Member, $280 Non-Member.

Take a break from the school year and hang out at the Zoo for the week. Come visit our 5000 animals and find out what they are up to during the winter months. What happens with the animals when the snow falls and the temperature drops? March Break at the Zoo aims to deliver an action filled week exploring the entire Zoo including some areas of the Zoo not open to the general public.
Your child will receive a full week of guided activities, learning experiences, and a unique behind-the-scenes tour and/or special animal encounter. March Break at the Zoo will be very similar to a week during Zoo Camp in the summertime, just a little more snowy.

March Break At The Toronto Zoo

Spend some quality time with our giant pandas, gorilla baby and polar bear cub PLUS enjoy daily animal encounters this March Break!

On hand for the fun will be our partner Parks Canada who will be heading up a special March Break Activity Centre where you can get one of four Species at Risk temporary tattoos, including the polar bear. Find out how the Toronto Zoo works with Parks Canada to help save many native Canadian species, and how you can contribute to the protection and recovery of these animals and their habitats. Plus you can visit Toronto’s favourite giant panda pair, Er Shun and Da Mao, as they enjoy their first ever Canadian March Break, and our adorable gorilla baby and mom Ngozi.

International Polar Bear Day

The Toronto Zoo in celebrating International Polar Bear Day by “Bundling Up For Polar Bears”! The Zoo’s “Bundle Up For Polar Bears” initiative is where we invite families, individuals, schools and businesses to join the Zoo in bundling up by putting on your favourite sweater, hoodie, or jacket and turning down your thermostat by two degrees between February 24th and 28th. Register by emailing us at bundleup@torontozoo.ca so we can log your participation.

Bloor-Yorkville Icefest

February 22 – February 23, 2014. IceFest transforms Bloor-Yorkville into a magic winter wonderland with fantastical sculptures carved from a breathtaking 35,000 lbs. of ice. The Village of Yorkville Park (Bellair St. & Cumberland St.) will welcome families to come celebrate winter in Toronto. Cumberland Street will be closed to traffic Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon – 5 pm, so that visitors can enjoy seeing over 35 ice sculptures. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the Sassafraz Ice Carving Competition, a themed ice exhibition, on-street performers, complimentary “Kiddie Cube” with a collectible toy inside and ice carving demonstrations throughout the area. A Photo Opportunity area and Shop with Heart event will take place in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
