July 13-14, 2013. Festival of India is an annual South-Asian spiritual festival, that kicks off with an upbeat and colourful parade down Yonge Street, in the heart of downtown Toronto, and continues with two days of celebration at Centre Island. Expected to draw close to 40,000 people!

The Honda Indy Toronto, Ontario’s largest annual sporting event, takes place July 12-14 on the streets surrounding Exhibition Place near Lake Ontario and downtown Toronto. For the first time in event history, the 2013 Honda Indy Toronto will feature two IZOD IndyCar Series races in one weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, for full points and prize money on both days. In addition to world-class racing, the event is a festival of festivals featuring craft beer, food trucks, BMX stunt shows, interactive games and activities, live entertainment, charity events and celebrity appearances.

July 13 – August 5, 2013. The IRIE Music Festival (IRIEFEST) is a multi-day, music and arts festival that will celebrate its 11th anniversary in 2013. IRIEFEST will take place in two of Ontario’s largest cities: Toronto and Mississauga and will present artists in the areas of music, dance, spoken word and visual arts. The festival will also include an awards event, a greening initiative and an historic component. IRIEFEST Toronto will take place Nathan Phillips Square, August 2 to 5. IRIEFEST Mississauga will take place on July 13th and 14th at Mississauga Celebration Square.

Sponsored by the Toronto Sun, the 17th Annual Great Ontario Salmon Derby is North America’s largest freshwater fishing derby and takes place in the Canadian waters of Lake Ontario attracting participants from Florida, Arizona, Michigan and other US States. They also have participants from England, Germany & Italy on a regular basis. The Derby boasts an average participation of 21,000 people annually over a 50 day period. Fishermen/women compete for various weekly prizes including cash, tackle, rods, reels and for the heaviest salmon caught every week – a 2013 Toyota Matrix! The winner of the overall Derby wins an exciting Grand Prize package including a 2013 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport, a fishing trip for two and a celebration dinner. The event is climaxed with a Fish-off for the 70 prize winners preceding the Awards Ceremony, September 14, 2013 allowing them to win a further $5,000 in cash prizes.

From June 25 – August 27, YDS presents City Cinema: CULT CLASSICS, free outdoor screenings of classic cult films, at sunset, every Tuesday. Films include the hilarious “Anchorman, The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” the beyond-quirky “Napoleon Dynamite,” and all time cult classic, “The Godfather.”
