Beat Nation: Art, Hip Hop and Aboriginal Culture describes a generation of
artists who juxtapose urban youth culture with Aboriginal identity to create

The Power Plant is pleased to present Althea Thauberger’s Marat Sade
Bohnice to North American audiences for the first time. Her project for The
Power Plant is an experimental documentary/video installation about the
staging of Peter Weiss’s 1963 play Marat/Sade at the Bohnice Psychiatric
Hospital in Prague. This new work approaches issues of timely reassessment,
institutionalization and shifting political terrain.

Hot Docs, North America’s largest documentary festival, conference and market, will present its 20th annual edition from April 25 – May 5, 2013. An outstanding selection of 205 documentaries from Canada and around the world will be presented to Toronto audiences and international delegates. Hot Docs will also mount a full roster of conference sessions and market events and services for documentary practitioners, including the renowned Hot Docs Forum, Hot Docs Deal Maker and The Doc Shop. The CanAsian International Dance Festival lights up the stage! This year
promises an emotionally spectacular line-up that includes some of the best and most memorable
performers from past festivals mixed with performances by world-class artists making their Toronto debut.
New this year is the introduction of special workshops devoted to contemplative writing, dance and
calligraphy; a special Japanese film screening, magical labyrinth walks and the ever-popular noodle
