She She Pop & Their Fathers: Testament

World Stage Production

She She Pop (Germany)
Performed in German with English surtitles

Mirroring the story of King Lear and his daughters, She She Pop members take to the stage with their own aging fathers to enumerate their inheritances and negotiate how power, money, memory and love are passed along across the generations. With the drive of a game show, this heart wrenching and humourous work strives to find the intersections of responsibility and respect between parents and children. She She Pop, based in Berlin and Hamburg, is one of Germany’s most important performance collectives.

Flute is a wonderful adventure for the whole family.

One of the most-performed operas worldwide, The Magic Flute is perhaps Mozart’s greatest popular
success. It tells the tale of a prince, Tamino, who is sent by The Queen of the Night to rescue her daughter
Pamina from her nemesis Sarastro. Accompanied by the endearingly incorrigible Papageno and with the aid
of a magic flute, the besotted Tamino ventures into the temple and quickly finds that all is not as it seems. TICKET PRICES: $35 – $155.

Family Fun Weekends

The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) kicks off its Family Fun Weekends on April 13, 2013. Six exciting themed weekends exploring ideas from the ancient world to biodiversity offer families a variety of activities that run until June 10, 2013. The entire family will enjoy interactive demonstrations and performances, meeting archaeologists, getting up close to museum objects not normally on display, making cool crafts for home and more! Activities run from 11 am to 4 pm are included with general Museum admission.

Meet archaeologists and find out what they do to make their discoveries. Then get up close with objects usually hidden away in the museum’s vaults. Try your hand at being an archaeologist as you learn some of the skills they use in the field. Meet people who do “experimental” archaeology by trying to do things the way they were done in the past, and “living history” re-enactors of the Viking era who try to understand the past by living it.
