Dance Theatre of Harlem
“DANCE THEATRE OF HARLEM’s present ensemble is as breathtaking as it was during the company’s 1969 opening season … the company broadens and deepens our sense of classical ballet.” – NY Times.
The DANCE THEATRE OF HARLEM’s unprecedented success is founded on creating innovative and bold new forms of classical ballet that reach new audiences while playing a key role in the national cultural dialogue. Founded in 1969 by Arthur Mitchell, the first African American dancer to become a principle dancer with a major U.S. ballet company (New York City Ballet), and the late Karel Shook, recognized as one of the most influential and productive ballet teachers of our time, the DANCE THEATRE OF HARLEM will present its eclectic repertoire at the Sony Centre For The Performing Arts with one performance on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 8pm.
