Nov. 20 & Nov. 23. In its light-heartedness and amiable tunes, Beethoven’s Fourth contrasts sharply with the Third and Fifth, but supplies just as much satisfaction and creative ingenuity. TSO Conductor Laureate Sir Andrew Davis is passionate about the music of Berg and the Seven Early Songs, which are performed by soprano Erin Wall.

Come for: Richard Strauss’s rollicking musical depiction of Till Eulenspiegel offers an encyclopedia of musical humour, from sly digs at dusty academics to cartoon-style slapstick.

And more: (Mostly) light-hearted music by serious composers.

Program: Beethoven: Overture to The Consecration of the House; Beethoven: Symphony No. 4; Berg: Seven Early Songs; and R. Strauss: Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks.
