Brave New Words

Celebrating its 37th year in 2016, the International Festival of Authors brings together the world’s best writers of contemporary literature for 11 days of readings, interviews, lectures, round-table discussions and public book signings. Special events include the round table discussion with English-language Fiction Finalists of the Governor General’s Literary Award, the 2016 International Visitors Award, the PEN Canada Benefit and the Harbourfront Festival Prize that honours creativity and overall literary and publishing accomplishments. Top writers who regularly appear at the event include Margaret Atwood, Stephen King, Joseph Boyden, Jay McInerney and Douglas Coupland.

In 2016 the spotlight is on the work of graphic novelists, Irish and non-fiction writers exploring new ideas that challenge our view of the world. These highlights will complement the diverse and thought-provoking lineup of fiction, poetry, short stories and more.
