The Main Event
The biggest racecar professionals in North America compete for the championship in the Verizon IndyCar Series. Whooshing past on a challenging combination of super-speedways, short ovals, scenic road courses and street circuits, drivers make unbelievable maneuvers and reach incredible speeds as they race towards the finish line!
From Australia and Columbia to Oakville, Ontario, international racing superstars touch down in Toronto for Honda Indy 2016. Flying the farthest, New Zealander Scott Dixon and Aussie Will Power join the competition. Hailing from South America, Juan Pablo Montoya will try to make Columbia proud while
Tony Kanaan and Dancing with the Stars champion Hélio Castroneves represent Brazil. Marco Andretti, of the famous Andretti racing family, will be competing, as will fellow American Graham Rahal. Finally, local legend James Hinchcliffe of Oakville will represent Canada in a battle of lightning speed and incredible focus.
Driver Introduction Ceremony
What’s the best way to rev up a crowd of Indy fans? An adrenaline-pumping pre-race ceremony, of course.
Before every IndyCar race, drivers are introduced on stage, before making their way around the track in a Honda Ridgeline to greet their enthusiastic fans. After the Canadian and US national anthems are sung, it’s time for the celebrity grand marshal to say those famous words – “Drivers, start your engines!”
You’ve watched every minute of the heart-pumping race – now experience victory for yourself!
At Victory Circle, success is sweet, even for the spectators. Come and experience these world-class drivers’ triumph as they claim their first place prize.
Immerse yourself in Indy at Honda World – this massive, interactive fan area features vehicle displays, games, activities, and more. Afterwards, go on a multimedia journey through the fascinating racing Heritage of Honda, and get the little ones in on the action at a hands-on training lesson with the Junior Red Riders Program.
Honda Fan Friday will feature a jam-packed schedule of on-track action, IndyCar series qualifying for Saturday’s race! Stunt shows, contests, autograph sessions and all kinds of off-track entertainment will be in full gear from open to close across the event site, providing something for everyone, race fan or not!
Verizon IndyCar Series Paddock
Itching to get up close and personal with IndyCar crews and mechanics? The Paddock gives you your chance – this exclusive on-site area provides access to actual Indy Cars and team mechanical trailers and crew. The best part? You may very well run into a driver, so have those cameras and headshots ready!
The Food and Drink
At the Honda Indy, it’s all about the racing, but that doesn’t mean that fans go hungry.
Forget about bringing a bagged lunch – at the Honda Indy Toronto, there’ll be more than enough food and drink to keep the hungriest (and thirstiest) of racing fans satisfied.
Sample a variety of food and drink from vendors serving up old favourites and new treats, and get your fill of food truck fare from the multitude of gourmet food trucks on-site.
After feasting on all the food you can handle, wash it all down with some delicious craft beer at the Honda Indy Craft Beerfest, taking place across the entire event site.
Slake your thirst with some classic brews and don’t worry about wandering off – the entire grounds are fully licensed!
