Victory is in the Celebration
Home to big leagues, big stadiums and big legends of the game, Toronto embraces sports with a passion. Add in the countless state-of-the-art facilities for every athletic pursuit imaginable, the after-game party hot spots and city-wide team spirit and you will see why we’re sports’ biggest fans.
Along with helping you bring your game to town – check out www.seetorontonow.com/Sports-Tourism/ for a listing of venues and facilities -- Tourism Toronto’s dedicated sports event specialists love pitching ideas that bring the team together for post-game high fives.
Here are a few celebration thoughts we’ve been tossing around:
Winning venues: Host your celebration where sports history reigns. The Hockey Hall of Fame offers stunning one-of-a-kind memorabilia-filled event space and interactive activities that impress. (Don’t forget to see the Stanley Cup!) Or go for awesome by staging a gala banquet centre court or centre field at one of the city’s major league stadiums.
Spectator sports: What could be more fun than letting loose post-game at a big pro game? Arrange group tickets to a major sporting league event while here. Entertain participants in a swanky VIP suite. Acknowledge their presence, and their winning achievements, via the stadium’s electronic board and overhead announcements. Toronto is home to Major League soccer, Major League baseball, NHL Hockey, NBA Basketball, to name a few.
Playing the field: Reward the team with a chance to lace up and play where heroes have tread. The Ricoh Colliseum, where Toronto’s minor-league hockey faces off, and major-league soccer’s BMO Field offer private group rentals. Or make it love-all on the courts of the Rexall Centre Sports & Entertainment Complex, site of the annual Rogers Cup. Golfers will appreciate the opportunity to play on links that host the prestigious Canadian Open.
Scrimmage time: When it’s time to coax your players out of their “zone,” run with the touch down opportunity for some tension-busting action. Banquet and play at any number of facilities where team-bonding fun can start with a mini Olympic-style games; rock wall climbing, go karting, laser tag and indoor beach volleyball – or a combination of all plus more.
Inspired pep talks: On the heels of the Bejing Olympics, and in prep of the 2010 winter edition in Vancouver, our athletes and Paralympians have tales of glory and determination to share that will move and empower competitors and sports supporters of all ages. Leave post-podium time for meet and greets and photo opps.
